Holy bad drivers, Batman!

Day 2 in St. Louis is off to an auspicious beginning, with unbelievable traffic all the way to the office. Listening to the radio I counted no fewer than 22 separate traffic incidents around the St. Louis metropolitan area (one of these causing my delay, of course). That is both crazy for a city this size, and worse than any Bay Area traffic report I've ever heard! So be heartened, Californians. There are places with traffic worse than ours, just not predictably worse!

I must say, too, that St. Louis drivers definitely aren't something I miss after moving to CA. This is a town where a traffic signal turning red means only two more cars should go, and where just as many traffic problems are caused by sun as by rain (i.e., the infamous "sunshine slowdown"). I'm not sure what it is about St. Louisans that makes their driving suspect, but it did not give me comfort to be in really bad stop-and-go traffic while driving directly in front of a driver who appeared to be about 12 years old.

One thing I am proud of is that while I certainly felt that my hellacious commute bore mentioning, it did not warrant photographing. Even I know when it's best to leave the camera tucked securily in the purse....well, sometimes I do anyway.
