I've been asked more times than I can count why Mr. Y and I chose to go to Peru for our first long vacation. Actually, Mr. Y didn't get a vote--Peru was my dream, a chance to get a glimpse of the archeology I love (but didn't pursue as a career). Next year, Mr. Y gets to choose our vacation spot...well, maybe. =)
Before I even begin to blog the trip details, I am going to give credit where credit is due: first, there is the ultra-slim point and shoot digital camera, the Sony Cyber-shot T300 (in red, of course):

Second, the most fabulous digital camcorder ever (according to Mr. Y anyway), the Sony HDR-SR12 120GB High Definition Handycam Camcorder (which, unfortunately, only came in black):

It was quite a Christmas this past year in the Y household, as Mr. Y bought me both cameras in preparation for our upcoming vacation. I shared them both with Mr. Y, of course, but note that the steadiest videos are mine because I practiced a lot more than Mr. Y did before the trip.
