And this day just keeps getting better...

We left Cancun after getting screwed over on transportation (was supposed to be included in what we already paid up front, but $46 showed up on our bill and they couldn't clear it and we finally had to leave to catch our flight). Then we had 1 hour to make our connection in Charlotte, while having to go through customs, get our luggage, re-check our luggage and grab some lunch to go. We barely made that flight, then wished that we hadn't, because the plane had a mechanical issue and diverted to Nashville, where Mr. Y and I are currently spending the night.

Only the hotel doesn't have transportation to the airport before 7 a.m., so now we get to pay another $45 or so to get back to the airport tomorrow morning.

The only flight we could get (because the first 2 unbelievably unhelpful "customer service" reps we were dealing with refused to let us book anything on an alternative airline) routes us back to Philly for a 3+ hour layover, then gets us into SF at around 5 p.m. (nothing like taking a tour of the entire US!). We learned during the shuttle ride to the hotel that everyone else had managed to get a flight booked on another airline and will arrive in SF before noon. Mr. Y wasted an hour on the phone with US Airways again, trying to get booked on another airline, but by the time he found an agent who would actually look for alternative solutions, everything on every other airline was booked. Needless to say, we are peeved and will not be flying US Airways in the future.

Update: Mr. Y called the airline back (for the 8th time--no joking) and rebooked our morning flight so we won't be stuck in Philly for so long. Instead, we'll take a later flight out of Nashville and will be able to use the hotel shuttle. (This made Mr. Y happy, which is great because he gets really cheap when he's tired and crabby.)
