I finally got my sandwich from 'Wichcraft, one of Chef Tom Colicchio's restaurant projects. But not without some negotiating. I was going to lunch with Dude and Southern Chick, a team member who had just arrived. Dude and Southern Chick are picky, excessively and extremely picky. For example, Southern Chick eats no fish whatsoever and will only eat cheese on pizza. So, we walked to 'Wichcraft and got in line.
Only after reviewing the menu, Dude and Southern Chick decided that 'Wichcraft was too fancy for them, that they would want to make changes to the sandwiches, so they wanted to go somewhere else.
So we split up. I stayed at 'Wichcraft to get my lunch, and they wandered to some other eateries to try to find a suitable lunch. We all met up again to eat. I had a roasted chicken sandwich with sauteed mushrooms and onions and fontina cheese, with a side of fresh corn salad. It was fabulous!
Unfortunately, the rest of the day was consumed with work, work and more work. We were up to our ears in documents to sort and catalog, and it was a very long afternoon and evening.
We were finally able to leave (more correctly, the cleaning lady finally chased us out of the building, thanking us profusely for letting her do her work so she could go home) at around 9:30. This obviously limited our dinner choices, and the fancy dinner out we had planned on for that night was scrapped. We ended up at a nice little restaurant in between work and our hotel, Pershing Square.
I ordered the roasted beet salad and French onion soup. Dude had a burger, and Boss and Southern Chick ordered the "famous" chicken pot pie.
